Don’t Confuse Noise with Meaning
There’s so much noise right now. Every scroll, every headline, every notification seems to come with an implied urgency: React. Respond. Panic. Share. Take a stand. And if you don’t? If you pause, or choose not to engage, some folks will try to make you feel like you’re not paying attention. Like you’re slacking, or not being a “good American.”
But here’s the truth:
A lot of terrible stuff is happening, yes, every day, sorry to say. But not everything deserves your outrage. Not everyone deserves a response. Some things are just noise. You are allowed to turn the volume down.
This isn’t about ignoring the world or being apathetic. It’s about discernment. It’s about protecting your energy because it’s finite. If you give it away to every single headline designed to rattle you, to every person on social media who thrives on conflict, you’ll have nothing left for the things that actually do matter. Instead, you’ll spend your whole day revved up over things that leave you feeling powerless, instead of focused on the things you can influence.
Things like -
How you show up for the people you love. Or the boundaries you set. Or the work you’re trying to do. Or the healing you’re trying to live through. Or maybe the peace you’re trying to protect.
Bottom line: you don’t have to perform your awareness 24/7.
You don’t owe the internet your opinion on every issue.
You are allowed to say, “You know what? This nonsense isn’t mine to carry right now.”
The world is loud, right? It totally profits off your distraction, your fear, your doom scrolling. But not all noise is meaning. And not all volume is value.
Let me put it this way: Protect your peace like it’s your PIN number.
And have a great Thursday!
